Smart TFT LCD and Internet Of Things

What is IoT

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a name for the aggregate collection of network enabled devices, excluding traditional computers like laptops and servers. The "things" are devices with sensors, program and other technologies, which use Internet Protocol to communicate with one another, exchanging date.

The IoT includes devices like "smart" appliances, such as refrigerators and thermostats; security systems; monitor devices on production line. The goal behind Internet of Things is to have devices that self report in real-time, improving efficiency and bringing important information to surface more quickly that a system relying on human intervention.

Application

Applying IoT technology, industries can achieve a new automation layer and with it create new revenue and business models. Followings are some common use cases for IoT:

  • Smart manufacturing
  • Smart power grids
  • Connected assets and preventive, predictive maintenance
  • Smart cities

Connected EV Charger

Booming of electric vehicle market leads to increase demand of EV charger. Couple years ago, Topway supplied TFT LCD to China State Grid's EV charger project. After that, the company launched a series of 7" TFT LCD displays tailored for EV market. LMT070DICFWD-AKA with RTP, LMT070DICFWD-AKE with CTP and Smart TFT LCD HMT070ATA-1C all become very popular among EV charger manufacturers.

Lately, our EV charger customers brought up a challenge to Topway. They want the LCD display to be smarter. In stead of passively showing information and responding to touch, our customers want the LCD to connect to internet and report charger's data back to control center.

In response to customers' request, Topway created HMT070ETD-1D, a 7" Smart TFT LCD with Ethernet port and capacitive touch.

  • High resolution 1024x600
  • Wide viewing angle
  • Ethernet port enables long distant control & update
  • Quick and easy UI implementation

Now, a traditionally passive TFT LCD becomes an active device. The Smart TFT LCD can send its data to host locates far far away. And device owner can modify LCD interface design at anytime.

Conclusion

A connected Smart TFT LCD opens up many new possibilities. And it will be a nice fit for your IoT project. Leave us a message and let's start the discussion.
